Starfish Logo
Late one afternoon in August, seven year old Andrew and his grandfather were walking along the beach together. Every time the young boy spied a starfish that had washed up on the shore, he interrupted the pace of the walk to fetch it and toss it back into the water, knowing that exposure to the morning sun would kill the helpless beings. This continued until, finally having tolerated one starfish too many, the exasperated grandfather said, “Andy, there are billions of starfish in the ocean and millions that end up on the sand. What difference does it make to throw these few back?” The child looked at the small creature in his hand, “It makes a difference to THIS ONE,” he replied as he heaved it into the sea.
