Fretwell Trophy
Overview
The year 2000 saw the advent of the Fretwell Trophy, an annual award in honor and memory of Keith Fretwell which is presented to the top finishing Law Enforcement or Fire/Rescue Team in the 5K Run.
Keith was a highly regarded officer with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and a long-time member of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department who succumbed to cancer at the age of 33. However, during his brief time on earth, Keith served his community admirably and unfailingly. Keith participated in the first three Annual Hospice Runs and this trophy is dedicated to him.
The Fretwell Trophy competition is open to all Law Enforcement agencies, groups, and affiliations – as well as Fire/Rescue organizations.
